CanisTrigger Publishing remains faithful to its commitment to publish books with an international flair, and proudly welcomes Italian author Diego Balestri.

Diego Balestri was born in Vinci (Italy) in 1975, and in 2000 he earned a degree in Italian Literature from the University of Siena.

He considers himself an avid reader with a particular preference for the horror genre.
‘I read several books every month, especially by horror authors,’ he tells us ecstatically. ‘My love for reading books started by chance; my passion for writing began in middle school, although I did not write as much as I would do later in life. While attending high school, I discovered I had a penchant for writing, so I dedicated myself to that more frequently and continued to write over the years with much passion and enthusiasm.’

As far as he can remember, Diego Balestri has always been passionate about horror literature, and for him writing is also a way to relax and to express his innate creativity.
Although he loves almost all horror writers, his favourites are Stephen King, Clive Barker, Ramsey Campbell and Dean Koontz.

Strigis is Balestri’s first novel.

‘My previous works are short story collections, but I had wanted to write a story that involved vampires for quite some time,’ says the author who also reveals that the inspiration for his book came from watching some vintage horror movies.
‘Strigis is a horror story in the most classic tradition, whose characters are ordinary people struggling with the many problems of everyday life.’

Diego Balestri è nato a Vinci nel 1975, e nel 2000 si è laureato in Lettere all’Università di Siena.

È prima di tutto un assiduo lettore con una particolare passione per il genere horror. 
‘Leggo numerosi libri ogni mese, soprattutto di autori del brivido,’ ci dice estasiato, e aggiune: ‘L’amore per lettura nasce un po’ per caso, ma quello per la scrittura ha inizio sin dalle scuole medie, sebbene scrivessi di rado in quegli anni. Poi, iniziando a frequentare le scuole superiori, ho scoperto di possedere una particolare ispirazione anche per la scrittura, che ho intrapreso con una frequenza maggiore per poi continuare negli anni a scrivere con passione.’

Da sempre appassionato di letteratura horror, per Diego Balestri scrivere è anche un modo per rilassarsi e per esprimere la propria innata creatività.
Adora quasi tutti gli scrittori del brivido, e tra i suoi preferiti ci sono soprattutto Stephen King, Clive Barker, Ramsey Campbell e Dean Koontz.

Strigis è il suo primo romanzo.
‘I miei precedenti lavori sono raccolte brevi, ma era da diverso tempo che desideravo scrivere una storia che avesse come protagonisti i vampiri,’ afferma l’autore, il quale rivela di aver tratto ispirazione dalla visione di alcuni classici del cinema horror.
‘Strigis è una storia horror nella tradizione più classica, i cui personaggi sono persone comuni alle prese con i tanti problemi della quotidianità.’
